played

After Leah went to sleep for the night Jordan  told me he wanted to go take pictures outside with his blanket and Cookie.
I, of course jumped up excitedly and grabbed my camera. He really knows how to play me.
It was worth being played like a fiddle. We had so much fun and I got the chance to play with my camera!

As a side note, this morning around 4:30 he woke up crying and when I went in there to check on him he asked me to get in bed with him. I told him ok but only for a minute when I got up to leave he said in a chirpy voice, "Thanks for coming." I am really trying to work on manners with him so this was so stinkin' sweet to hear.

can you hear me

Drew cut this grass this morning and Jordan was so excited to watch him out the front door. He saw that he had these head phones on and asked what they were right away. I told him that Daddy could not hear us because he was listening to music while he was mowing the lawn. Later that morning when we went outside to play Jordan was mowing the lawn with his toy mower and when I asked him a question he told me he could not hear me because he had his earplugs on. That was before Drew let him borrow the earphones that he is wearing in these pictures so he had nothing on or in his ears at the time.
He has so much fun pretending that he is Daddy.

He wore these earphones most of the morning. There was no music playing he just had the cord tucked into his pocket. He thought he was so cool!

What a priceless smile!

Feels Like Summer

We are having a blast enjoying this hot weather! I love that I have the time to swim and play with the kids in the pool everyday.  Jordan is a "bigger guy" this year wearing a life vest and arm floats and kicking around the whole pool all by himself. He thinks he is so so cool!

Leah loves to play motor boat with Daddy and she cracks up when he swings her around and tosses her up in the pool!

Not Your Honey

Some things about Jordan at 3:

He has such a kind heart
He adores his sister
He always tells me that Leah is his favorite girl
He loves to read books, especially if they are about trucks or trains
At any given moment you can find 3 or 4 books in his bed
His favorite animal is a cow
His favorite shows to watch are Curious George and Super Why
Often times when he is supposed to be napping I hear him say…
“super why to the rescue….”
He is an awesome helper
He wants to help with everything…
dishes, laundry, cooking, cutting grass, work around the yard
He ALWAYS remembers to clean out the lint trap when he helps with the laundry
He has an amazing memory
When he is asks me if I can get him a particular toy or book and I can’t find it he can always tell me right where it is in the house
He likes to play with his garbage trucks and tools
Often times you can find him pretending he is Uncle Jeff
He walks around the house and uses a different voice and says,
“ Hi, I am Uncle Jeff.”
If you ask him what he is doing he says,
“I am doing orange work.”
Orange is his favorite color
He is obsessed with orange
He likes to play outside, rain or shine
He is tall and skinny…very skinny
He sleeps with many, many books in his big boy bed, a Spider Man blanket, his special yellow blanket and has started sleeping with Cookie Monster again
Pizza is his favorite food
He also loves broccoli, fries and chicken nuggets
He knows all of his letters and we are working on writing some of them too
I call him Honey
Nana calls him Sweetheart
Grannie calls him Charlie Sweet Potatoes
Daddy calls him Jordan Roo, Jay Dawg and Jay Dizzle
and if the wrong person calls him by the wrong nickname he lets them know about it for example if I call him Sweetheart he tells me I am not your Sweetheart Nana calls me that
I’m so proud of Jordan whenever he learns something new, but I’m the proudest when he is kind out of the blue, or when he gives big smooches and hugs without me asking or when he is kind to someone
I hope his heart is always as big as it is now

I love you with all my heart Jordan!

Cuddly

in the sky

Jordan has been pretending he and Leah are helicopter pilots nonstop since yesterday when we saw three Black Hawk helicopters up close and personal.
They were so loud when they were flying in and landing!
They made Jordan a little nervous but Leah was trying to run right up to them and
I had a hard time holding her back.

There were so many fun "things that go" at the airport.
Jordan saw a dump truck off to the side that he just had to check out.

There were so many cool airplanes.
Jordan wanted to take his picture with this orange airplane.
The coolest plane was the little red plane that Drew and Jordan got to copilot.

Everthing was ok,
I thought I was ok
excited even...

Until the plane started to taxi down the runway and I felt a lump in my throat and my heart started racing.
I said to Big" Papa, " I don't like this" and he agreed.
It was a good thing the plane did not go far and did not stay in the sky long.
We both watched the plane the entire time until our guys were back with us.

Leah was so mad, she wanted to go for a ride too!
I was so grateful that she was on the ground with me and I had someone to hold on to until
my guys were back with their feet on the ground.

Of course the dare devil  got a chance to sit in the airplane.
Maybe next year she will get to fly too.
That is only if Mommy can handle the stress!

could i be

Any luckier?

  Does it get any better?

Resistance Was Futile

I started to pick up the chalk but it was so wet and yucky outside I realized there was no way we were making our way back inside without taking a bath before lunch.

These pictures tell the story of what transpired that day.

This is the little lady who planned the initial attack.
She looks sweet and innocent but...
first she put on her war paint,
tested her ammo,
then she pounced on him.

Jordan never saw her coming. You see, they learn how to stalk their prey from a very young age.

Jordan thought it was hilarious and got in on the act!

Love the look on her face! Who knows what she is thinking, did she settle the score for a  previous offense?

Uh oh, I think they have joined forces and they are planning their next attack on me.

I should be afraid. Very afraid.

Just Like Riding A Horse

Yesterday when Jordan was supposed to be napping he showed up unexpectedly at my feet. When I jumped in surprise and asked him what he was doing downstairs he said, "Don't worry Mommy I was careful".  I asked him to bring me upstairs and show me how he got out of his bed and he was very excited to show off his new skill. He said, "look Mommy I am just like George (he is talking about Curious George the monkey) and  look Mommy it is just like riding a horse".  He climbed in and out over 25 times and I saw no sign of him getting tired. I called Drew right away and told him it was time for a big boy bed. I don't want Jordan "riding a horse" when he is supposed to be napping.

We told him that if he gets out when he is supposed to be napping then we will have to put the crib back up so will see how long it takes before he tests the water. He napped today in the big boy bed and he stayed in bed the whole time and he was super excited to sleep in his bed tonight. The last thing he said before he fell asleep was " I won't get out of bed Mommy". Wish us luck!

He's 3!!!!

Jordan LOVES Trains. A few months ago I asked Jordan what he wanted to do for his birthday and he said that he wanted to go on a Amtrak train, so a train it was! We had no real plan a couple of nights before his birthday so we decided we would go to Chicago and then to the All Aboard Diner for lunch.

Jordan decided that since he is a "bigger guy" he would be responsible and hold breakfast while we waited for the train.

He had his nosed pressed against the window the entire train ride to Chicago. He was such a good boy. When I was putting him to bed that night I asked him what his favorite part of the day and he said, " The blue train (I think that was the engine) and all the buildings he could see out the window."

We rode to Chicago just to hang out...

and chase some pigeons.

Then it was off to All Aboard Diner where they always treat us so awesome! Of course they set Jordan up with a prime seat at the counter so he could get a birthday treat brought out to him on a train.

I still cannot believe my baby boy is 3!

Lauryn's HAPPY Birthday
